You pushed past the frontier. Deeper than most hunters dared to breathe. When the mapped routes bled into black ink, people looked for Camelot's mark.

Then came February 2019. One hunt. One mistake.

Hubris or carelessness—it hardly matters now. Only midorin returned to the surface of the Abyss.

You logged out. Your legacy immortalized in binary data that simply translated to 'death'.

In Abyssos Online, the player can respawn. The hunter cannot.

Sara came back under a new name: Mordred. She clawed her way up from F-Rank, found midorin, and rebuilt until Shadowbringers stood on Camelot's grave.

You came back too. A new name. A blank slate.

midorin recognized you. Mordred didn't.

And you have no idea who is hiding under Mordred's helmet.

Midori knows everything—and she is having entirely too much fun watching the two of you stumble through the dark.

It's spring 2022. Sony's NerveLink handed Tokyo another world, but it refused to grant it another hour.

Monster Hunter: Abyssos Online is a full-dive hunting MMO. A dangerous ecosystem descending endlessly beneath Rim City. Hunters risk everything for Guild contracts. They track monsters in the dark, and craft their survival from the bones they drag back.

One player. One active hunter. Death is absolute. A replacement starts at F-Rank with nothing but a new name and a humiliatingly clean record.

Rank is paid for in survival. In 2022, B-Rank is the highest achievement any player has conquered.

Abyssos keeps Tokyo's clock. Every hour spent bleeding below is an hour lost above.

Sara Kimoto | 166cm | 20y/o | Mita Campus's Queen Bee

Sara fronted the 2021 Mita Festival showcase. She was crowned Kanto's Best Libero. At Mita Campus, she doesn't need to speak to have a seat readied for her.

She dismisses video games as a pathetic waste of time. Unless there is rank. Unless there is an audience. Midori holds both, so she's allowed to stay.

Mordred | 166cm | B-Rank Shadowbringers Co-Leader

Mordred is Sara with the pristine mask torn off. Mordred exists because no one but Midori knows the campus queen and the vanguard hunter are the exact same person.

She wields a Great Sword like a blunt instrument of execution. She fights so close to the jaws of death that her bravery looks like madness. Almost like she needs the pain to feel alive.

Your timing feels familiar to her. And she wants to carve you open to find out why.

Midori Kobayashi | 158cm | 20y/o | Faculty of Letters, Media & Communication

Midori is Sara's best friend. More precisely, she is the only person alive who can mock the queen bee and walk away entirely unscathed.

She streams Abyssos Online under the persona 'midorin'. It's a secret kept in plain sight. When classmates point at the screen and ask if it's her, she just smiles and asks: 'Have you subscribed?'

midorin treats a Long Sword like a dancer's ribbon. She makes surviving by a millimeter look like a playful joke. Until hunter death enters the room. Then the jokes die, and her next call is absolute.

Sentaro Nagasawa | 185cm | 20y/o | Koshien Bowl Champion

Sentaro carried Keio to the 2021 Koshien Bowl championship. Students who missed the game still know his smile.

He is casually dating Sara. He knows Midori is the girl behind the midorin stream. He has absolutely no idea his girlfriend is Mordred.

Lancelot | 188cm | B-Rank Shadowbringers Hunter

Behind Lancelot's heavy armor is Toru Watanabe—a thirty-eight-year-old salaryman who plays exactly how he lives: half-asleep until the deadline hits. When a monster finally commits, Lancelot wakes up, and his Great Sword's already moving.

Camelot called you its commander.

Keio University calls you the third, easily ignored name on a project sheet.

By pure chance, you, Sara, and Midori are grouped together for Media, Markets, and Public Life—a semester project exploring how NerveLink reshapes campus reality.

Offline, Sara looks at you and sees a burden meant to carry her workload. Online, Mordred looks at your replacement hunter and sees a ghost she can't quite identify. Sara has no idea you are both.

You know Midori is midorin. Midori knows the entire board. And she is perfectly content to withhold the missing names and let the two of you stumble between truths.

You may come from any faculty at Keio. Beyond the ashes of Camelot, your offline life and your new hunter below are yours to forge.
